What I am going to say will probably appeal to many who read this- snakes are in our genes.
What I mean by this is that most human beings tend to have extreme reactions to these magnificent animals:
Be it fear, attraction, fascination or extreme disdain- our reactions seem to derive from encryptions buried deep within our mind.
My own fascination with snakes accompanied me throughout my life, in a dormant state, as animals weren't appreciated at my parent's household- To this day when my father visits me, he always mutters comments about an axe and making belts.
Luckily, on 2006, after finishing my mandatory service in the army as I started out on my own, I saw a cornsnake at a pet store... and on impulse bought my first snake.
Since then I learned from other keepers in the field and did a lot of personal study.
On 2008 I met Alon Berger, owner of BK Reptiles (Also, founder of the Sunfire Boas line) and so began what I would like to consider a good friendship. By working with him, a growing ambition to breed Boa Constrictors and other reptiles took root- A dream which, with his assistance, is slowly becoming a reality.
My eventual goal is to strip snakes of their undeserved reputation as the infernal, evil animals they are considered today, and by so doing allow more and more people to open their minds to the potential of them being the right kind of pet for them.
With the significant decrease in free time, and the state of the economy, we have less time and funds to invest in hobbies, including pets. Snakes however, unlike the more classic, but far more high maintenance animals such as dogs and cats, require a lot less time, effort and funding- thus making them a unique, and easy to care for pet.
Genetics is a personal fascination of mine, and I hope to conduct long term projects in the hopes to produce a variety of animals that will appeal to many people. Possibly allow people who want to keep a certain snake, but decide not to due to size or general appeal to get the "perfect snake" for them.
Forbidden Fruit Reptiles will hopefully be the means for me to practice what I love most, here in Israel. Hopefully, if all goes according to plan, I will be shipping animals to Europe in the future.
I have much to learn still, and believe that every single person has many gifts to share and teach everyone.
This site is a means for me to share my experiences, and allow others to share what they know- and thus allow those who wish it, to learn and develop together.
