11'th of November, 2011.I am sorry for the lazy updates but in truth, not a whole lot is going on at the moment. The animals that arrived in the shipment are well beyond my expectations, and this led to many changes and re-considerations.Central American Boas are more dominant in my collection right now, with new morphs that have yet to be seen in Israel up until now(Can be seen in the Gallery). This change has been carried out mainly because I found out that the Blood Boas are actually pure Central American Boas from Exotic By Nature stock. For this season I have only a single pair breeding- Helius, my Kahl Albino and Solaris. Let's hope she proves to be a het Sunglow.More updates will be made as I progress.... Cheers,Oren.18'th of July, 2011.I am happy to report that after a rather long wait, much anticipated additions arrived to my collection.Pictures and and details will be shared soon.Oren.27'th of May, 2011.Can't say that a lot is going on at the moment, but I did upload new pictures of many of the snakes I own and can be viewed in the "Snake family" section. Also, I am delighted to say that Amadeus is still alive and well. Truth be told, he is flourishing and growing stronger every day. He proved to be a male, which makes him a true asset to me as things stand, even though it will be a long while before he becomes a breeder.Mostly, it's all about getting food into everyone in order to have everything ready for the slowly approaching new season.Hope you're all well.Oren.20'th of May, 2011.This year things didn't go as I had hoped, Solaris' gestation ended prematurely on the 10'th of May, 16 days before the due date, with 20 slugs and a single premature baby.I was not optimistic... but a single baby is a whole lot more than none.... and he is getting stronger by the day.Already preparing everything for the coming season, and hopefully things will go more smoothly next time.Let's keep our fingers crossed for little Amadeus!Oren.12'th of April, 2011.Good day everyone,I'd like to direct you all to the following link:http://axcessnews.com/index.php/articles/show/id/19289There, you will see the current events in the herp field in the US. Though I am not a US citizen, this concerns every keeper on the planet.Once these species are banned in the US, their value will drop world-wide, but that's a minor impact. The worst would be the encouragement of similar factions all over the globe will get to try and force the same illegitimate legislation worldwide. The essay shows the truth behind the so called "scientific concerns" which led to the attempt to force these laws- distribute it to as many as you can.If you're a US citizen, please help Jeremy Stone and USARK by sending photos:http://stonereptiles.wordpress.com/2011/04/11/jacksons-project-update/Good luck!Oren.9'th of April, 2011.Welcome to the new Forbidden Fruit Reptiles site.I have thought long and hard how to properly combine the Hebrew and English content of the site, but ended up deciding that "divide and conquer" is the best strategy.So... welcome, I hope you like what I've done with the place.Actually several exciting things are on the verge of happening, none of which I can disclose save for one which I already publicly announced.I am glad to report that Solaris( "Sunfire line" Hog Isle cross Salmon) has ovulated on the 23'rd of January this year, and I am eagerly awaiting the 27'th of May, which is the due date of the litter.Let us keep our fingers crossed that all will go well.My warm regards to you,Oren.
About
Welcome To Forbidden Fruit Reptiles
Ask a person who keeps snakes when this fascination started, and the answer you are most likely to hear is "since I can remember".That's the exact answer you are likely to get from me, though the sentiment can only be fully understood by fellow herp keepers. In Israel, it is not an uncommon practice to purchase several species of snakes until you find the species that suits you the most.I had the pleasure of keeping cornsnakes, california kingsnakes, L. Mexicana kingsnakes, texas ratsnake and at some point, even a green tree python.I enjoyed them all, but I was still searching, without knowing it, and without knowing what it was that I was searching for.The summer of 2008 was a real turning point for me.I met a person whom I consider a close friend to this day - a breeder by the name of Alon Berger, who for a time worked in New England Reptiles(NERD) and was the first person to introduce to Israel many morphs and species. The pinnacles of success were Boa Constrictor Imperator salmons and albinos hailing from high quality stock such as VPI and D&M Breeders. The Boas were a love at first sight, and from that point on I have devoted myself entirely to establishing a breeding colony of common boa constrictors. I hope to share my progress and projects with whomever is interested through this site.Having gone to great lengths to obtain some of the highest quality boas available here, and acquiring morphs that are totally new in Israel, I am excited to see what the future holds. I hope to be an ambassador for snakes, of sorts, and try to show the fascinating, beautiful side that is horribly misrepresented.Welcome, and I hope you will enjoy your stay,Oren Harel.

This is the project that drew me to Boas in the first place.Having purchased several Boas from Alon Berger, a local breeder of Hog Isle cross, I quickly realized the confusion surrounding the "Sunset" term.Wanting to stray from the confusion, I came up with the idea of dubbing the offspring he produced from two specific females and a male as "Sunfires".A Sunfire is a Salmon Hog Isle cross Boa that was produced by the Sunset Cross sire from DM Breeders, and either the Sunset Cross female het Sunglow poss. Het Moonglow, or Kahl Albino purchased from VPI.The pairings have consistently produced exquisite animals and I have managed to acquire a few of the best looking Boas ever produced from the different litters. I have high hopes for these intense orange animals, and I can't wait to see some Sunfire babies .

After several treatments, the infection is no more, and he is happy as can be.

Little did I know that I took what would end up being one of the best looking Salmons I've ever seen.Seeing her colors come into their own has been a true inspiration, and I can't wait to see what kind of Sunglows we'll see from her.

This color, too, is present in her startling eyes and I can't wait to see what kind of Sunglows she'll produce.
